SATURN
BEST PART OF RECORDING TOUCH THE SKY

Working with Brian Potts. Having another ear and someone to bounce ideas off and give me suggestions was great. Plus, he knew what I wanted. That was cool.

HARDEST PART OF RECORDING TOUCH THE SKY

Life happens, you know? It’s the shortest album I have, but it took the longest to finish.

TRACKS FROM TOUCH THE SKY I NEVER PERFORMED

Affliction, Midnight

MIDNIGHT ALMOST GOT CUT

I was so frustrated because I couldn’t figure out why the drums just didn’t flow with the song. Brian said he really liked the track and urged me to keep it on though. So, I got the idea to try the track without any drums at all … it wasn’t what I had initially imagined for the song, but it worked. And subsequently, Midnight is the most popular song from this CD.

NO BROU HA HA

This is only the only project so far that I didn’t have a CD Release Party/Show for.

WHAT ABOUT THE FLOWERLIFE?

Songs for this set were pulled from an album called Flowerlife, one I don’t intend to make any longer. When Virgin Poet was released, Flowerlife was the name of the Yahoo group I had created for fans, all 2 of them. You hear me mention Flowerlife in the song the Alley from the Virgin Poet.

The 2 songs that didn’t come from Flowerlife were Adonis and Midnight. Adonis was new and Midnight I wrote in 2001, shortly after 9/11, hence the last line:

“Midnight crawling, towers falling. In this black hole I am sorry, but I just want U 2 love me.”

I'M NO PIANIST

I had initially played the piano part in “U Break My Heart Everyday”, but I’m so many miles away from being a pianist, it was boring. So, I called up my friend Tim Kaye, who is a fantastic musician, and asked him to listen to my chords and then just run with it. And boy did he! I love his piano work in that song, more than my vocals ironically.

Tim Kaye also played the guitar part in “Saint” on Deviant.

WHO BROKE MY HEART EVERYDAY?

“U Break My Heart Everyday” was about a guy named Wayne. Looking back on it, what the hell was I thinking? Oh well, I got a good song out of it.

AS FAR AS NUMBERS GO ...

I worked much harder on recording this project than I did on promoting it, therefore it’s my least successful effort to date.
